Immaculate Murugi Kinyua

Immaculate M. kinyua was born in November 1990 in Embu County. She attended St. Matthew Boarding Primary school from 2001 to 2004 and St. Monica Secondary School, both in Embu County. Immaculate studied at Daystar university from 2010 to 2014 where she graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration and Management. While at Daystar University, she was active in charity and Mission groups. She joined University of Nairobi for postgraduate studies in Project Planning and Management from 2016 to 2020.

 For the past three years, Immaculate has been working at Greenland Fedha Ltd as a Credit Officer. She applies her excellent organizational skills, project planning skills and communications skills to enhance daily operations at Greenland Fedha ltd.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of microfinances on Financial Sustainability of tea farmers in Kenya; a case of Greenland Fedha Microfinance in Embu East sub county. The study was guided by the following objectives: to determine how savings mobilization; influence of farmers’ financial education; provision of loans and adoption of Mobile Banking services influence Financial Sustainability of tea farmers in Embu East sub county. The study utilized a descriptive- survey research design and the target population were 1405 respondents. Data was then cleaned, tabulated and analyzed with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The collected data was analyzed quantitatively using descriptive techniques of mean and standard deviation and presented in tables and cross tabulation form. Qualitative data was chronologically arranged with respect to the questionnaire outline. The study found out that, there is a positive relationship between the objectives and financial sustainability of tea farmers.

 Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendations were made:

1. There should be concerted efforts by the management of micro finance institutions in place to put in adequate measures through training and recruitment to enhance competence and performance of its employees.

2. Top management of Microfinance institutions should embrace a culture of self-sustenance through exploring new ways to generate their own income.
